Top 8 Allergy Substitutions
For any teenager, learning to cook is difficult, but having food allergies makes cooking more challenging. With food allergies, you have to avoid certain things and often end up searching for allergen free recipes. The substitutions below will make it possible to use virtually any recipe, even if it isn't allergy free.

Dairy Substitutions:
- Butter- Earth Balance Butter, Canola Oil, Apple Sauce (baking only), Mashed Avocado (replace the butter with half as much avocado, baking only)
- Buttermilk- Safe milk plus 1 tbsp of lemon or vinegar for every cup of milk, allow to sit for 10 minutes
- Cheese- Daiya Cheese, Tofutti Cheese, Go Veggie! Cheese (Dairy Free not Lactose Free), Follow Your Heart Cheese, Nutritional Yeast (works in sauces)
- Cream- Coconut Cream or So Delicious Dairy Free Creamers
- Dry Milk Powder- Better Than Milk
- Milk- So many options to choose from: cashew, almond, hemp, coconut, rice, soy
- Sour Cream- Vegan Gourmet Sour Cream, Tofutti Better than Sour Cream

Egg Substitutions:
- Egg- Ener-G Egg Replacer, Flax Egg (1 Tbsp ground flax meal + 3 Tbsp cold water for every 1 egg), Chia Egg (1 Tbsp chia seeds + 3 Tbsp cold water for every 1 egg)
